Description
Salicylic acid is oil-soluble, which means it can get inside a pore and clear it out from within. That is what separates it from every scrub and every glycolic product, and it is why it remains the standard treatment for blackheads and congestion.
At 2 percent this is the full effective concentration. Used consistently it clears the plugs around the nose and chin, reduces the number of new spots forming, and smooths the rough, bumpy texture that comes from months of buildup.
In a humid climate that buildup happens faster than people expect. Sweat, sunscreen, oil and dust mix through a Nairobi day and settle in the pores, and by the end of a few weeks the texture across the nose and cheeks is visibly worse.
Use it in the evening on clean dry skin, starting two or three nights a week. Follow with moisturiser. Do not use it on the same night as retinol until you know how your skin handles each separately, and do not layer it with other exfoliating acids.
Some purging in the first three to four weeks, where existing congestion surfaces before clearing, is normal. Sunscreen daily while using it.
Avoid if you are pregnant or breastfeeding without checking with your doctor. Genuine The Ordinary, delivered anywhere in Kenya.
