Of all the sunscreens we stock, this is the one to buy if hyperpigmentation is your main concern. It is the Anthelios formula tuned specifically for dark spots and melasma.
It uses La Roche-Posays Mexoryl 400 filter, which covers ultra-long UVA up to 400nm, a range most sunscreens leave unprotected and one that drives pigmentation more than it drives burning. It also includes niacinamide to work on existing marks and a tint from pigments that neutralises any cast and adds protection against visible light.
That combination matters enormously for Kenyan skin. Dark spots here rarely come from sunburn. They come from a spot or an ingrown hair healing under strong daily UV, and from years of unprotected exposure gradually deepening the tone unevenly. Sunscreen at this level is more effective at fading marks than most brightening serums, because it stops new pigment forming while the serum works on the old.
The finish is a light fluid with a soft tint that blends into a range of skin tones, and it sits well under makeup.
Apply a proper amount every morning, without exception, including on cloudy days. If you are treating pigmentation with vitamin C, niacinamide or retinol, this is the step that makes those worth doing.
