Description
The reason most people in Kenya stop wearing sunscreen is the white cast. Mineral sunscreens use zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, both of which sit on the skin as a white film, and on medium and deep skin tones that film is obvious and unflattering.
The tint in this formula solves it. Iron oxides give a soft universal tone that blends into a range of complexions and cancels the whiteness, so what you see is skin rather than a grey layer. It also evens out the look of the skin slightly, which many people prefer to wearing foundation on top.
It is a mineral filter, so it is a good option for sensitive, reactive or acne-prone skin that does not tolerate chemical sunscreens, and for anyone using retinol or acids. Ceramides and hyaluronic acid keep it hydrating rather than drying.
The iron oxides matter for another reason. They give some protection against visible light, which is a genuine driver of melasma and hyperpigmentation on deeper skin tones and is not blocked by SPF alone.
Apply a proper amount, roughly a third of a teaspoon for the face, every morning and reapply if you are outdoors through the middle of the day. SPF30 is adequate for daily indoor life; for a full day in the sun, size up.
