Description
Layton is the fragrance people stop you to ask about. It opens bright and slightly sweet — apple, bergamot, a clean lavender — then settles into something much warmer as the hours pass, with vanilla, sandalwood and a pepper-and-cardamom spice that keeps it from ever reading as dessert.
What makes it worth the money is the performance. This is an eau de parfum at a generous concentration, and in Nairobi conditions it will comfortably last a full working day and into the evening, projecting well for the first three or four hours before settling close to the skin. Two sprays is genuinely enough. Anyone applying six is wearing it wrong and will be noticed for the wrong reasons.
It is at its best in cool weather, which makes it well suited to Nairobi evenings and the June-to-August cold. In coastal humidity it becomes heavier and sweeter, so go lighter at the coast — one spray, and let it develop.
Marketed as a men’s fragrance, though the apple and vanilla give it enough softness that plenty of women wear it and wear it well.
A full 125ml bottle, sealed, never decanted. Genuine Parfums de Marly, delivered across Kenya.
