Description
Le Male has been in production since 1995 and still sells, which in fragrance terms is close to unheard of. The formula is simple and it works: a cool opening of mint and lavender over a warm, sweet base of vanilla and tonka bean, with a soft cinnamon and cumin spice bridging the two.
The contrast is the whole point. It reads fresh for the first ten minutes, then turns warm and comforting, and it is that warmth people remember. It is a friendly fragrance rather than a serious one — approachable, easy to like, and very hard to get wrong.
It performs best in cooler weather, which makes it a good fit for Nairobi evenings and the cold months. In heavy heat the vanilla can become quite sweet, so if you are wearing it during a hot afternoon, apply lightly. Expect six to eight hours.
It suits evenings, weekends and casual occasions more than formal ones, and it is a common first fragrance for exactly that reason — it is forgiving, well priced for what it is, and consistently well received.
