Ebene Fume is smoke made wearable. Where a lot of incense fragrances end up smelling like a church or a bonfire, this one keeps the smoke dry, refined and close to the skin.

Pink pepper and cardamom open it briefly before incense, oud and violet take over, and the base settles into ebony wood, guaiac and vetiver. The overall impression is of dark polished wood in a warm room. There is no sweetness and almost no fruit.

This is a cold-weather and evening fragrance by design, and it is one of the more grown-up bottles in the Private Blend line. It suits people who have moved past sweet fragrances entirely and want something with texture instead.

In Kenya it comes into its own in the June and July cold and on cool coastal evenings. Applied in the middle of a hot afternoon the smoke can feel dense, so scale down accordingly. Longevity is strong, comfortably eight hours or more.
