Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel has been the default recommendation for oily and blemish-prone skin for years, and this is the large 400ml bottle, which works out considerably better per wash than the standard size.
It is a soap-free gel that removes excess oil, sweat and impurities without stripping the skin, formulated at the skins natural pH and built on La Roche-Posay thermal spring water with zinc pidolate for its purifying effect. It leaves the face clean and comfortable rather than tight.
It suits the way skin behaves in a humid climate. Oil, sunscreen and dust accumulate through a Nairobi day, and a properly formulated wash used morning and evening manages that far better than harsh soap used more often. Harsh soap damages the barrier, and damaged barriers get oilier.
Use it twice daily, massaging for thirty seconds and rinsing with lukewarm water. At the 400ml size it is also practical for a household where more than one person is using it, or for washing the back and chest where breakouts are common.
Suitable for sensitive skin and non-comedogenic. Pair it with a light moisturiser and daily sunscreen.
