Description
Niacinamide is the most useful ingredient in skincare for anyone dealing with uneven tone, and it is remarkably well tolerated. This is a 10 percent formulation, which is the concentration the research supports, blended with tranexamic acid to target stubborn discolouration.
It works by interrupting the transfer of pigment to the surface of the skin, which is exactly what causes post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, the dark mark that lingers after a spot has healed. It also reduces redness, regulates oil production and strengthens the barrier over time.
For melanin-rich skin this is close to essential. Those marks are the most common complaint we hear, they take months to fade unaided, and niacinamide is the gentlest effective option for them. Unlike acids and retinol, it does not sensitise the skin or require a slow build-up.
Use it morning or evening, or both, on clean skin before moisturiser. It layers safely with almost everything, including vitamin C, retinol and sunscreen.
Expect eight to twelve weeks for meaningful fading. Pair it with daily sunscreen, without which new pigment will form as fast as the serum clears the old.
