Description

Black Orchid is the fragrance that built the Tom Ford name, and almost twenty years on it still smells like nothing else. It is dark, sweet, strange and completely deliberate.

Truffle, blackcurrant and ylang open it, black orchid and spice fill the heart, and the base is patchouli, vanilla, incense and dark chocolate. It smells rich and slightly decadent, closer to a dessert served in a very dark room than to a flower.

It is worn by men and women equally and has been since it launched. What it demands is restraint. One or two sprays is the whole application, and it will still be present ten hours later with a trail behind it.

In Kenya it belongs to the evening and to the cooler months. Under full sun the sweetness expands quickly and can become too much. Save it for dinners, functions and nights out, where it does exactly what it was designed to do.
