Description
Retinol is the most proven anti-ageing ingredient available without a prescription. It speeds up cell turnover, stimulates collagen, unclogs pores and fades pigmentation, and nothing else on the shelf does all four.
The problem with retinol has always been irritation, and this formula is designed around that. It pairs pure retinol with a gradual-release retinol for a slower delivery, and adds vitamin B3, niacinamide, to reduce redness and support the barrier while the retinol works.
Start slowly. Two nights a week for the first fortnight, then three, building up over two months. Apply a pea-sized amount to dry skin at night, wait a few minutes, then moisturise. Some dryness and light flaking early on is expected; burning and raw patches mean you are going too fast.
Sunscreen the following morning is not optional. Retinol thins the outer layer temporarily and makes skin far more vulnerable to UV, and under Kenyan sun that means new pigmentation rather than a tan. Skipping SPF while using retinol will leave your skin worse than when you started.
Do not use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
Give it three months before judging results. Genuine La Roche-Posay, stocked in Nairobi.
